How I used AI this week ...

There has been a lot of hype about AI and how it can help us with our daily lives. But until recently I had been a little sceptical, opened ChatGPT, asked a few questions, and thought, this will be handy if I need to write a poem!

But then last weekend I had time to do some in depth research and watch some of the videos about AI. How it can be used and how to get the most from it. I was surprised at how much AI had moved on since I had last done some research last Autumn.

Fully prepared, at work this week, I found I could use it in more ways than expected and I would say it saved me about 5 hours in total! Here's how...

On Monday I was looking for a specific image to go in to a PowerPoint presentation. I went in to Canva and saw the prompt ' Create your own'. I input the description of the picture I was looking for and it made it up for me. It wasn't perfect at first, so as each selection of pictures came back, I made a small amendments to the description until I had the perfect image! Canva AI generated pictures can be used for personal and commercial use. Read more detail here.

On Tuesday I was asked to research a selection of people with a certain job role on LinkedIn Sales Navigator. My first search by job title returned nothing. I asked ChatGPT for the correct job title for people who carry out that specific role. It gave me a selection of job titles, all of which I was able to use to identify people as my targets.

On Wednesday I was mega busy with work all day but had said I would make some chocolate brownies for a supper in the evening. I asked ChatGPT for a recipe and shopping list which I had delivered in seconds saving me research time. Earlier that day I had used Otter.ai to take minutes for a meeting.

On Thursday I was looking forward to my weekend trip to Barcelona and was about to type in to Google for top 10 places to visit. Then I had a rethink and asked ChatGPT to come up with a 3 day itinerary - done in 30 seconds!

Today is Friday, so as well as writing about ChatGPT I have asked the same question ' How could I use AI this week?' This was the answer:

  1. Personal Assistant Apps: Utilize AI-powered personal assistant apps like Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa to help with reminders, scheduling, and tasks management.

  2. Smart Home Automation: Set up AI-powered smart home devices like smart thermostats, lights, and security cameras to automate tasks and improve energy efficiency.

  3. AI-Powered Fitness Apps: Use fitness apps that leverage AI to track your workouts, provide personalized training plans, and offer insights into your health and fitness progress.

  4. AI-Based Learning Platforms: Engage with AI-based learning platforms such as Duolingo, Khan Academy, or Coursera to enhance your skills, learn new subjects, or prepare for exams.

  5. AI-Enhanced Productivity Tools: Incorporate AI-enhanced productivity tools like Grammarly for writing assistance, Otter.ai for transcribing meetings, or Todoist for task management.

  6. Virtual Health Assistants: Explore virtual health assistants like Babylon Health or Ada Health to check symptoms, receive medical advice, or schedule appointments with healthcare providers.

  7. AI-Generated Art and Music: Discover AI-generated art and music through platforms like DeepArt or AIVA to explore new creative expressions and inspirations.

  8. AI-Powered Financial Management: Utilize AI-powered financial management tools like Mint or Personal Capital to track expenses, create budgets, and receive personalized financial advice.

  10. AI-Driven Customer Support: Interact with AI-driven customer support systems deployed by various companies to get instant assistance with inquiries or troubleshooting.

These are just a few examples of how you can incorporate AI into your daily life this week. Depending on your interests and needs, there are countless other applications and services powered by AI that you can explore and leverage.
