There has been a lot of hype about AI and how it can help us with our daily lives. But until recently I had been a little sceptical, opened ChatGPT, asked a few questions, and thought, this will be handy if I need to write a poem!
But then last weekend I had time to do some in depth research and watch some of the videos about AI. How it can be used and how to get the most from it. I was surprised at how much AI had moved on since I had last done some research last Autumn.
Fully prepared, at work this week, I found I could use it in more ways than expected and I would say it saved me about 5 hours in total! Here's how...
On Monday I was looking for a specific image to go in to a PowerPoint presentation. I went in to Canva and saw the prompt ' Create your own'. I input the description of the picture I was looking for and it made it up for me. It wasn't perfect at first, so as each selection of pictures came back, I made a small amendments to the description until I had the perfect image! Canva AI generated pictures can be used for personal and commercial use. Read more detail here.
On Tuesday I was asked to research a selection of people with a certain job role on LinkedIn Sales Navigator. My first search by job title returned nothing. I asked ChatGPT for the correct job title for people who carry out that specific role. It gave me a selection of job titles, all of which I was able to use to identify people as my targets.
On Wednesday I was mega busy with work all day but had said I would make some chocolate brownies for a supper in the evening. I asked ChatGPT for a recipe and shopping list which I had delivered in seconds saving me research time. Earlier that day I had used Otter.ai to take minutes for a meeting.
On Thursday I was looking forward to my weekend trip to Barcelona and was about to type in to Google for top 10 places to visit. Then I had a rethink and asked ChatGPT to come up with a 3 day itinerary - done in 30 seconds!
Today is Friday, so as well as writing about ChatGPT I have asked the same question ' How could I use AI this week?' This was the answer:
